The Mobility Fund by Rail for the Young and the Disadvantaged was set up to enable European Citizens from an underprivileged background to pursue a project with an educational or cultural aim that involves travel by train. The MFRYD helps finance group projects that would not have been possible without some form of external financing. If you were previously registered with the SFYM your organisation’s details have been transferred to the new system. You do not have to re-register. Whether it be Slovenian Scouts from an area afflicted with high unemployment seeking to travel in Europe to help the Roma population or a dance class from a council estate in Marseilles (France) wishing to travel to Germany to meet and exchange thoughts, ideas and other cultural matters with a similar organisation, the Mobility Fund for the Young and Disadvantaged had financed 25 projects by the end of 2010, helping several hundred European citizens travel through Europe, with grants totalling 87,000 €. If you believe that your organisation could benefit from this fund then please take a look at the fund presentation section of this site.
